ALHAMBRA PALACE

It’s worth taking a day out to visit the magnificent Alhambra Palace, Granada.

The Alhambra Palace overlooking the city of Granada, stands out as the most famous example of Moorish architecture.  This Palace structure was started after the Reconquista the reconquering of Spain performed by the Christian Kings, started.  This adds to its aura.  While the illiterate Christians were advancing, Spain reached its highest cultural level ever, but under Muslim rulers.

The slender structure of the Alhambra, the breathtaking details, the palace was started in the 13th century, but it consists of Palaces built by different rulers, the carrying idea behind several of the buildings of Alhambra is nothing less than an attempt to create a duplica of Paradise on Earth.  The Romantic design is made up of a mixture of slender columnar archades, fountains, and light reflecting water basins.

TORRE DEL MAR

Torre del Mar offer the visitor a relative amount of peace and quiet, though through the summer months it can get quite busy.  Next to Torre del Mar is Velez-Malaga here you will find the Aquavelis Water Park which is fun for all the family, with pools and slides.  Also at Velez-Malaga there is a fantastic shopping centre El Ingenio just off the Autovia at Velez, it hosts some well known shops and boutiques such as Mango, Zara and Bershka, definitely one for the ladies! Don’t worry guys there are great bars and restaurants for a bite to eat and a cold beer.

Lake Vinuela is north of Torre del Mar, and is only a 20 minute drive from the coast, well sign posted.  The Lake is man made, and is of considerable size and beauty, you can drive all around the Lake there are many view points to stop to take those memorable photos.
To the east side of the Lake (behind Hotel Vinuela) is a large BBQ area with rock built BBQ’s overlooking the Lake, offering families an ideal place to relax and eat.
